Steam Connection issues when using a Cisco router

A little while ago I was Steaming about Steam, and the fact that I was having permanent issues trying to connect to the service, and that the only way I could authenticate was by using a customer VPN and having that VPN connection as the default gateway. Steaming about Steam

Some friends have been hassling me to install Steam for a while now, and so earlier this week I gave it a try – however things didn’t really go smoothly, in fact they didn’t go at all. After the MSI installation finishes, Steam does a small update, restarts, and then either sticks on “Updating 0% Complete”, or throws an exception saying “To run Steam, you must first connect to the Internet”. This is a video demo of Addon Studio for Visual Studio - the demo shows how they've enabled the creation of World of Warcraft mods using Visual Studio. It looks incredibly easy to use, and could open up plenty of non WoW based modding opportunities.
