Today Microsoft announced the release of Silverlight 1.0, the fully supported version of its cross-browser, cross-platform plug-in for delivering the next generation of media and rich experiences on the Web.
As the above says, Silverlight 1.0 has now been released! This is a pretty important step, because it brings us one step closer to the final release of Silverlight 1.1, which is when the fun really begins.
In all seriousness, it's great that 1.0 has it's final release out, and that it seems to have happened in a pretty quick timeframe. I'm currently involved with a Silverlight project (which I'll write about at some point soon), and it just makes life that little bit easier to have it out of RC and into the 'real' world.
